Fabcoat Australia's team of expert rubber liners were contracted in April 2018 to carry out Inspection and repairs to BHP's Concentrate Leach Tank 9 during a planned shutdown, the scope was to wet abrasive blast the rubber clean and carry out hardness, thickness and high voltage holiday test.

On inspection of the lining it was found that the rubber would not meet BHP's strict specification for rubber lining, the were in excess of 200 sparks recorded during the holiday test and a large amount of mechanical damage caused from high pressure water blasting.

Fabcoat advised BHP that the quickest solution would be to carry out the major rubber repairs and Polyurea spray over the top sealing the tank and protecting the steel from acid.

The total project was around 600m² and was completed inside a 5 day window running both day and night crews.
